Seidel/Holzman has gained national recognition for designing high density urban communities. The firm's projects include transit oriented development, mixed-use projects, affordable housing, campus housing, offices and institutional commissions.
The firm's designs have received four awards at the national level from the American Insitute of Architects in addition to over a dozen AIA design awards from local and state chapters. Additionally, Seidel/Holzman's projects have garnered over fifty national design awards and have been widely and internationally published.
Design partner Alexander Seidel, FAIA is the lead designer on each of the projects the firm undertakes. With thirty years of architectural experience in the San Francisco Bay Area and sixteen years with Seidel/Holzman, Mr. Seidel has provided his clients with uniquely sucessful solutions. He is a frequent speaker at universities and conferences throughout the United States on the subjects of urban design, density and housing design.
In 1998, Mr. Seidel was honored as one of the youngest architects ever to be advanced to Fellowship by the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects for his notable contribution to the advancement of community and housing design. "His work demonstrates design excellence for affordable housing for families and seniors, infill housing, and transit-oriented development that is nationaly recognized for its informed urban and contextual responsiveness," noted Peter A. Piven, FAIA, Chair of the 1998 Jury of Fellows at the investiture ceremony.
In 1999, Mr. Seidel was appointed a visting artist/scholar at the American Academy in Rome where he furthered his independent research on urban place making. Mr. Seidel holds a Masters of Design Studies from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and a Bachelors of Architecture from Cornell University.
Managing partner Stacy Holzman, PE is a registered civil engineer with over twenty-five years of professional experience in design, development and construction. Ms. Holzman's responsibilities include management of the firm, project managment and oversight of construction administration services. Prior to founding Seidel/Holzman in 1990, Ms. Holzman gained extensive project management experience working for structural engineers, general contractors and real estate development firms. Her broad knowledge of real estate, finance, construction, management, planning and engineering is a resource for our clients.
Ms. Holzman holds a Masters of Science in Real Estate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis.
